So what do I wear? Since I don't have much office attire, I tend to fall back on a uniform (which I've thrifted or bought on sale.) This typically requires throwing a blazer, structured jacket, or cardigan over a dress. If it's chilly, I'll put on tights. If my appointment is extra formal, I'll opt for pearls and heels, but normally I'll go with a statement necklace, simple earrings, and boots or flats (I've got to walk from the subway, after all). Since I prefer defining my waist, I generally put on a belt to accomplish whatever my dress or jacket cannot. Then I'll pull my hair back and do my make-up. Not so hard, eh?
It's easy for me to repeat the same or similar outfits since I rarely see clients in person more than a few times. This is as much an effort to save time as it is money. I love clothes, but I'd rather not obsess over my wardrobe. That's what the patriarchy wants me to do!
