This annual gala, hosted by the nonprofit chashama, fundraises money for artistic real estate initiatives throughout the city. chashama helps artists get the studio and presentation space we need. The gala is our chance to impress donors with stimulating visuals and performances.
I was one of the 100 artists selected for this year's gala, which took place at 4 Times Square, the historic Condé Nast building. I created a mixed media/collage installation around representations of the feminine. That meant A LOT of tissue paper and A LOT of Mod Podge! Throughout the night, I worked on collaging two mannequin legs and talking to gala attendees about my mixed media process.
Since the gala started at 6 p.m. and went into the wee hours of the night, I have daytime and nighttime photos of my installation from this fabulous event. Here are a few of my favorites:
